about

Here is a fascinating debut collection of Apocalyptic Prog from Italian composer Stefano Iannone. Candelora is the Christian equivalent of the Roman festival Lupercaria, and the pagan Imbolc; it was the last month of the Roman year and it symbolizes the transition from the dark winter to the light of spring. All the music for this album were composed and arranged during this period in 2011 and directly inspired by the spirit of this season. The resulting music is a towering accomplishment in analog synth-based instrumental prog, each song a unique and precise event unto itself. Featuring 10 tracks filled with nostalgic and haunted melodies, constantly changing scenes, hypnotically frightening phases of tension, heart-pounding rhythms erupting between moments of pensive stillness. Hardly another addition to the latest wave of hip Goblin worship, Spettro Family is the more like the heir apparent to Saint Simonetti's vacant throne.
