A gentle and warm rain soaks your brow as soft finger-picked guitar and bowed violin shimmer in the glow of a seaside sunset. The urgent finesse of Sangre De Muerdago conjures reverent fantasies of the Iberian northwest and the old Galician castros there. While Sangre De Muerdago's music begins with a solemn devotion to the mysteries of the megalithic past, a spiritual sustenance from the natural world, and a revolting sorrow over the fall of the old world and rise of modern society; the mournful seriousness of Sangre De Muedago's music was furthered by the passing away of it's founding member Jorge, who died just a few weeks before he would've traveled to join the rest of the band to finish this album. As the loss of their great friend and collaborator still weighed heavily on their hearts, Sangre De Muedago deepened their resolve to finish this great work in honor of their dead kin, both of the ancient and modern ages. A cascade of graceful violins, woodwinds, vocal harmonies and lush atmosphere support the deft lead guitar work and beautiful melodies. Carefully crafted over a period of several years, between living with a traveling caravan in California and wandering the hills of their native Portugal, Sangre De Muedago have accomplished a truly inspiring and gorgeous album of folk song. Remastered for cassette by Nathaniel Ritter.
